Easter Weekend …

Sunday, March 31st, 2013

easterWherever you are, hope you get chance to blow off a few cobwebs this weekend.

It looks as though it could be dry pretty much UK wide but, thermals will probably still be the order of the day!

Have a good one and send us a copy of any photos of you take … particularly if you have been on one of the many Egg Runs taking place.

Ten weeks ….

Sunday, February 17th, 2013

share the roadGenerally I ride right through the winter but this time the grey, wet, miserable stuff got to me, that and three weeks away over Christmas :) , so today was my first ride for nigh on 10 weeks and guess what … that’s all it’s taken to turn me back into a car driver !! … no anticipation, short range vision, wandering brain, no road positioning and that’s just for starters … clunking gears, on/off throttle for a couple more.

Beautiful day today though, so decided on a quick blast up to the Dales, where was everyone else though?

We saw only a handful of other bikes, what’s happened? … has everyone gone out and bought a pushbike? … certainly there were swarms of cyclists around.

I guess they were all out there doing the Tour De France route.

Being serious for a moment though, cyclist numbers have increased many times over the last two or three years, surely we’ve all noticed, particularly since last year’s Olympics. Just a ‘watch out’ warning, not necessarily for the cyclists, on the whole they’re not a problem, no it’s more the motorists, who have absolutely no idea what to do when they meet a cyclist!!

Take care out there, there’s a few cyclists and bikers going to be taken out this summer, make sure you’re not one of them!

Non! to hi-vis in France …

Wednesday, February 6th, 2013

frenchThe article below regarding the abolishment of the need to wear Hi-Vis gear when biking in France is copied from the AA website

Click here to see the article on the AA website.

January 2012 – the French government announced that from 1 January 2013 all drivers and passengers of a motorcycle over 125cc or a motor tricycle over 15 KW/h must wear reflective clothing when riding their vehicles and in the event of an emergency stop/breakdown.

January 2013 – the French government announced that the law that made reflective equipment compulsory for motorcycle riders and passengers in France from 1 January has been abolished.

.
The requirement was to have been that clothing must have a minimum reflective surface of 150cm2 (approx 23in2) in total, either in one piece or in several pieces, and must be worn between the neck and waist.

Sorry, not much new content gone on the site in the last few weeks.

There’s only me doing this for a hobby and the last week or two I’ve not been able to spare much time other than to keep it clean from spam etc;

Anyway, back with it now, so if you’ve any contributions, either stick them on the site through your dashboard, or just email any stuff over to me by clicking here!

Cheers for now. Phil

Sunshine and Dry Tarmac !!!

Sunday, July 15th, 2012

sunshineA whole two days without rain and at a weekend too!

We managed to get out twice  but on Sunday, crikey, was there a biker who didn’t go out?

It was to be expected I suppose. I think every man and his dog were out for a drive along with the swarms of bikes and our run up to Devil’s Bridge was curtailed. No idea what had happened but traffic came to a stand-still and on the narrow, twisty A65 filtering was scary (we were witness to some rather dodgy/risky manoeuvres).

jamHence we did a 180 and headed back. Too busy for us I’m afraid, no fun.

Tell us how your ride was, by clicking on ‘comments’ below.

Bet it still smells of Brut!

Anyway it’s located 30mins from Le Mans and is available to stay in.

Friendly Bikers …

Wednesday, June 20th, 2012

This latest viral sent to the Fullchatter laptop is a Carlsberg advert.

It came to us from some of our non-biking friends. Interesting how they, and Carlsberg, think of bikers. Anyway …

Carlsberg set the whole thing up in a cinema somewhere, leaving only two seats for sale to the public.

See what you think.

We think the ones that sat down were brave … and, tell us you didn’t have a warm smile at the  end.

Whatever next ?!!! …. a fazerman rant!

kid_driving_carFullChatter laptop latest ….. a rant from fazerman -

Hi Phil,

Just got my copy of the bike trader mag about new regulations for bikers/drivers under the EU directive’s, changes for riders who wish to pass their test and get a big bike will  have to be over 24 instead of the present 21 rule.

But in the same stroke a driver who wishes to drive a HGV class 1 (44 tonne) had to be 21, but this now has been reduced to 18 years olds, where’s the sense in that.

Who do they think will be most dangerous on the roads.

As for the new on road test, who the hell wants to do a figure of 8 on a road as part of a test, never mind the hassle it would cause to learn how to do it on a real road.

Just having a bit of a rant at how stupid the powers that be, can be.

Glyn.
