Emerald Isle Honda 50 Run …
Honda 50 run’s are a big thing over here, through the year there are runs anywhere from Donegal to Cork.
There are clubs all over the country and the one local to me is The Rosses Honda 50 Club.
Well, anyway, I went out on their Santa Run on the 6th of November, a lovely dry day, with about sixty Honda 50, 70’s and 90’s in varying degrees of condition. We started and finished at Burtonport Community Centre, had a stop at Maghery Centre for Tea and Sannies and finished of with Soup and Sannies at Burtonport.
The run wasn’t that sharp, but the Craic was mighty yarnin with the boy’s on the ‘Step Thrus’. All the 50 runs are done for charity, and this one raised over £2000 for the Oncology Unit at Letterkenny Hospital.
Now where can I get a cheep step through, even a 20 year old one over here is makin near enough a grand !!
To give you a wee flavour of one of the runs I’ve put in a link to utube of a run at Doocharry, [near me] which took place in August 2010, interestingly, I’m sittin on the wall with two of my Grandkids. It looks a bit like clocking off time at any factory in the 70’s. !!!!!!
I’ll put in a wee funny as well, this one is a big hit on some of the small local radio stations.
